I went through the films that you listed as being out of sync and tested the MPEG-2 files with different players - Windows Media 9, VLC, Quicktime Pro and Media Player Classic. I have yet to find a file that had sync problems.

I wish I could give you an easy answer why you are having problems with the files, but there are so many factors that could cause problems. One is that different players handle MPEG-2 files differently. Some are much more robust and utilize a computer's resources better than others.

Because of your concerns, I've been testing any files that I've been recently uploading to ensure that they behave correctly in different players.

That still doesn't answer my question if avicodec is accurate in reporting the integrity of the films. I have no doubt that you check the films you upload Skip but others may not and encode on low system resources or have de-interlace which is where the problems usually arrive.
